New Day Aluminum Rebrands Speciality Products As NICHE

Based in Florida, David D'Addario is an accomplished professional in the metals industry who holds several decades of experience and serves as the chairman and CEO of New Day Aluminum (NDA). Since joining the organization in 2001, David D'Addario has helped oversee a variety of organizational changes, such as the recent rebranding of its specialty products business.

Originally known as Noranda Bauxite & Alumina, NDA has announced that it will be known as NICHE going forward, with the brand being an acronym for 'Noranda Industrial Chemicals.' Following recent expansions, such as its CGA capacity increase in Gramercy, it was logical to spin this segment of the business into its entity. In addition to carrying chemical grade alumina, NICHE will also bring ARC fused alumina to the fold as part of its specialty product offering.

According to John Habisreitinger, the president of NICHE, the company will remain competitive and supply only the highest quality of products to its customers as it strives to expand worldwide.

Yale University graduate David D'Addario serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of New Day Aluminum, LLC. A prominent executive in the metals manufacturing and recycling industries, David D'Addario led his company’s acquisition of Noranda Bauxite and Aluminum in late 2016, reviving the failing operation.

Due to reduced global demand and falling prices, Noranda was in danger of closing its mining operation in Jamaica and its refinery in Gramercy, Louisiana. New Day Aluminum’s expert leadership and an infusion of $35 million in capital improvements helped Noranda avoid closing its operations and craft a sustainable path forward.

Lifting the economy not only in Gramercy, Louisiana, but also in Jamaica, New Day Aluminum agreed to pay the Jamaican government 17.3 percent of the combined profits of the bauxite mine and the US alumina facility. In addition to this revenue, Jamaica benefits from the preservation of more than 800 jobs related to the mining operation.
